It all started with the plague. Gideon Cahill was trying to create a cure for the awful illness sweeping the coast of Ireland. His main goal, protect his family from the plague. There was another man spying on him to get his magic serum. This hideously evil man named, Damian Vesper, was more interested in the power of the serum and controlling the world than curing the Irish coast. Damian caused a giant fire in Gideon’s laboratory, evidently killing Gideon and the serum. That night Gideon’s family, consisting of his wife and four children named, Kathryn, Jane, tom, and Luke, all separated thinking that the death of their father was Luke’s fault, thus the children left with the wife (Olivia) alone. Later the children formed their own branches, Ekaterina, Janes, Tomas, and Lucian. Olivia was waiting for the right moment to tell everyone she was pregnant with her future daughter, Madeline, but after the death of her husband and the departure of her children, she had no one to tell. Olivia made it her mission to teach Madeline that her job was to reunite the family. That didn’t happen until 500 years later.
There are 11 books in this series, and obviously I can’t cover all 11 books or this essay itself would turn into a book! Today is about book one. Once upon a time, 500 years after the death of Gideon and Olivia Cahill, there were these two children named Amy (14) and Dan (11). Right now they are living with their wretched aunt Beatrice who is a greedy idiot with neon blue hair who wants all the money in the world to be hers. The children go to their grandma grace’s Victorian style mansion every weekend to get away from the horrible Aunt Beatrice and spend some time with their two favorite people, grace and Nellie (their au pair). One tragic day, grace died of cancer. Amy and Dan were devastated beyond compare. At the funeral, all of their cousins came to mourn over grace, but she surprised them with her will stating, you could take either $1,000,000 and leave, or join a deadly scavenger hunt to gain ultimate power. Amy and Dan chose the scavenger hunt while Aunt Beatrice took the money and ran away.
Flash forward to the middle of their first journey, they’re off to Paris in search of one of Mozart’s compositions in one of the scariest mazes of all time, the catacombs. At the end of the maze, they open a vault that contains Mozart’s sheet music and a green glowing bottle ( Witch is the Lucian portion of the magic serum) then one of their least favorite cousins ( Ian and Natalie Kabrah who are multi billionaires) sweep down from their private helicopter and swipe the Lucian serum and fly away. Dan and Amy would need that sheet music to find the next clue.
That was only the first book. There are ten more books in THIS SERIES! Then there is Cahills vs. Vespers, Rapid Fire, and the Cahill Files! I have just started the Cahills vs. Vespers series and it is INTENCE! The vespers are more evil than all of the most evil characters in the first series COMBINED! Compared to the Vespers, all of the most evil characters in the first series are like pink, fluffy, unicorns dancing on rainbows! DUN, DUN, DUN!!!
