King Charlemagne

King Charlemagne didn’t start out with the name. He used to be called Charles, but when he accomplished many military achievements, the government gave him the name. He became sole ruler of the medieval empire in 771 AD and pope Leo 2 crowned him. In his reign, he conquered Slaves, Avars, Corsica, and many more regions. No one knows when he died, but we know he did trying to conquer Spain because someone wrote a poem about the death titled, “The Song of Roland”. The next king was Louis the pious.
