Prince Henry the Navigator Treaty of Tordesillas
Prince Henry was the son of King Jon I, of Portugal. Prince Henry want to stop the Pirate attacks along the African coast. That’s how he got into exploring. He discovered many sources of gold and started the African gold rush. With the gold he found, he built his very own school that would teach students how to navigate through many obstacles. When Christopher Columbus came back from the new world, there was controversy because; the King told everyone that Columbus stole from Portugal! The pope tried to solve the problem by redrawing the imagery line to run north-south instead of east-west. The pope also created a new agreement between Spain and Portugal over who could colonize what parts of the world. This was called the Treaty of Tordesillas.
